Baranil® Leather comes from Tannery Degermann in France. Degermann has been tanning leather for 150+ years and is well known for their premium calfskin leathers.
This calfskin is their top grade and has a nice balance between supple and firm. Baranil is vegetable tanned to give its nice feel and beautiful color. The Baranil is very similar to the Novonappa by Tanneries Haas, but it has a slight amount of pigment which creates a more consistent and even finish. Being semi-aniline it won't patina in the same way as the Novonappa. So each has their benefit the Novonappa will feel more natural and will patina the Baranil will be more consistent in finish but wont develop much of a patina.

80%+ With a natural product like leather, there can be areas with neck and back wrinkles, veins, scars, bites, loose grain, but in general this article can expect an overall high cutting area. Sides do include bellies where there can be some loose grain. This leather being semi aniline (meaning the leather is very mostly natural with some slight finishing) the leather will have most areas of concern covered improving yield. Darker colors will also better hide any areas of concern. A key skill of using full aniline leather is the ability to work less desirable areas of the hide into the less visible areas of your projects. Overall this article has a high cutting yield. |
