Established in 1946, Tanneries Du Puy is renowned for the traditional expertise in high end calfskin production. Tanneries Du Puy is owned by the Hermes HCP Group and continues to serve the top luxury brands for leather goods and shoes.
Negonda is a naturally shrunken calf leather, meaning there is no embossing. The hides come from calf in the alp regions of Europe where there are less bugs and are hand selected for the highest quality. These hides are sourced specifically for their density, ensuring a distinct deep grain in the shrinking process. One hide can lose up to 40% of its size in the shrunken tanning process. The final result is one of the highest end luxury leather articles available. A deep and large grain that can not be imitated. Running down the center of the back, Negonda will highlight its signature perpendicular veining. This veining will usually be centered on the highest end luxury handbags.
This leather is full grain and top grade. It is slightly drier with more structure than Odessa (Togo). This particular leather is popular for highest end bags, clutches and larger items. Another unique trait of this leather is its durability and scratch resistance making it a great choice for products needing unmatched durability for everyday wear and tear. It is a versatile leather that will give a great dimension and a luxury feel to your products!

80%+ With a natural product like leather, there can be areas with neck and back wrinkles, veins, scars, bites, loose grain, but in general this article can expect an overall high cutting area. Sides do include bellies where there can be some loose grain. This leather being semi aniline (meaning the leather is very mostly natural with some slight finishing) the leather will have most areas of concern covered improving yield. Darker colors will also better hide any areas of concern. A key skill of using full aniline leather is the ability to work less desirable areas of the hide into the less visible areas of your projects. Overall this article has a high cutting yield. |
