Alran Sully is one of the world's most recognizable luxury goatskin leathers. Produced in France by Alran, a tannery specializing in goat leather since 1903, Sully is prized for its distinctive fine pebbled grain, firm yet refined hand, durability, and remarkable consistency. Sully has a special naturally shrunken grain that comes from its tanning process combined with the individual hand boarding of each skin by a specially trained technician. This creates that uniform and deeper grain you don't traditionally see in goatskin. Sully also has carefully controlled finish create a luxurious feel, while remaining practical for everyday-use leather goods.

The naturally compact fiber structure of goatskin gives Sully an excellent strength-to-thickness ratio, making it especially well suited to bookbinding, wallets, watch straps, handbags, small leather goods, accessories, and other projects where artisans want thin leather without sacrificing structure or durability. Chèvre "Sully" is one of Alran's top articles and is produced in a special 23-step process which takes 4 weeks to produce. One of the most critical processes involves hand boarding each hide to increase the depth and structure of the grain, providing a unique and distinctive look.

This goat leather is their top grade. The leather is tanned in a full veg-tanned crust and then retanned and dyed with some mineral tannage to shrink and strenghten the hide at thinner thicknesses. This process is the key to achieving its distinct grain, soft yet structured feel and even consistent color.

Yield i	80%+ With a natural product like leather, there can be areas with neck and back wrinkles, veins, scars, bites, loose grain, but in general this article can expect an overall high cutting area. Sides do include bellies where there can be some loose grain. This leather being semi aniline (meaning the leather is very mostly natural with some slight finishing) the leather will have most areas of concern covered improving yield. Darker colors will also better hide any areas of concern. A key skill of using full aniline leather is the ability to work less desirable areas of the hide into the less visible areas of your projects. Overall this article has a high cutting yield.
