This is a PDF pattern to create The Frigate Bags. The leather bag pattern includes printable PDF templates for:
> The Western Vibes Frigate Bag - earthy, decorative, rodeo style-inspired with bold character, and classic cowboy flair. Here more is more and it cannot be too much. Bold and contrast leather and thread combinations or full natural vegtan will be a good fit here. The Closure Embellishment panel also gives enough room for some Sheridan style floral carving or stamping if one wants to go fully traditional. > The Modern Vibes Frigate Bag - this version of the bag focuses on clean lines and contemporary look leaving behind the decorative elements while keeping the same bold structure. Think stylish, urban minimalism with a pinch of luxury. Monochrome or analogous pastel color combinations with matching threads will be great here. The Closure Embellishment panel can take the spotlight if done in luxury or exotic leather.
> The Mood Bag Charm that is designed to give the Modern Vibes Frigate Bag a voice of its own. This fun little add-on is made to hold swappable enamel pins, turning it into a tiny canvas for self-expression.

THE FRIGATE BAGS

Skill level: Advanced (skiving and piping are involved)
Bag dimensions: 26/18/9 cm ~ 10/7/3.5 inches
> Measure and cut on the outside edge of the lines.
> Stitching holes in the pattern are spaced at 4mm, however due to curves and irregular shapes might differ slightly at some spots.
> Please read through the Assembly Instructions files in full before commencing the build.

THE MODERN VIBES FRIGATE BAG
=====
Leather & Hardware
> For the main body of the bag: 2mm thick (5oz), medium temper leather. You will need ~3 sqf of leather including the optional back pocket. Longest piece is ~55cm; widest piece is ~28cm. All of those pieces will fit in a 55/50cm panel
> For the piping you will need 0.5-0.7mm thick medium to soft temper leather approximately 3cm wide and 60cm long OR 6cm wide and 30cm long (second option is if you split the piping in two parts like I did). Also required is ~55cm long and 2mm thick round leather cord or alternatively paracord or plastic foam piping of the same size and thickness.
> Leather for the strap: 2.0-2.2mm thickness (5-5.5oz). The strap is 20mm wide and you need two pieces – one 48cm (~19in) long and one 90cm (~35in) long. You can use the same leather as for the main body of the bag.
> Hardware for the strap: 2 x 20mm swivel clasp buckles, 2 x 20mm D-rings, 2 x button studs (7mm or 8mm cap diameter)
> For the closure: 1 x LOXX® Closure (www.loxx.shop/ or other vendor sites: search for “LOXX closure” or “LOXX snap fastener”). Similar locking closures under 30mm in size can be used alternatively.
> Version specific tools: 1mm, 5mm and 10mm hole punches
Options
> The Back Pocket is optional and it can also be sewn either on the outside or the inside of the bag.
> You can also make the bag by omitting the piping. The front of the bag will still be turned but without the piping.

> For the decorative elements of the bag you will need ~0.5 sqf of leather that is up to 1-1.2mm thick (2.5-3oz). You can use the same leather for those elements that you will use for the piping.
> Version specific tools: 4mm and 5mm hole punches
> For the closure: 2 x 20mm diameter magnets (25mm ones would work too and the relevant patterns are included)
Options
> The Back Pocket is optional and it can also be sewn either on the outside or the inside of the bag.
> The Closure with magnets might not be everyone’s cup of tea so there is an option to use a locking closure like in the Modern Vibes version. If you choose that option, you will need 1 x LOXX® Closure (www.loxx.shop/ or other vendor sites: search for “LOXX closure” or “LOXX snap fastener”). Similar locking closures under 30mm in size can be used alternatively. You will also need a 10mm hole punch.
> If you must, you can skip the decorative elements on the D-ring Loops and the Back Pocket and go for a cleaner look with focus on the Closure Embellishment.
> You can also make the bag by omitting the piping. The front of the bag will still be turned but without the piping.

THE MOOD BAG CHARM

Leather & Materials
> For the Charm Front - 2mm thick (5oz) leather. You can use the same leather that you used for the Modern Vibes Frigate Bag. For the Charm Back - up to 1mm thick (2.5oz) leather or you can use the leather that you used for the piping of the bag. For the string ~23-25cm long leather cord that is 2mm or 3mm in diameter (you can use the leather cord that you used for the piping). If you will use 2mm cord, then instead of punching 3mm holes on the Charm Front, punch 2mm ones.
> The Mood Bag Charm specific tools: 1mm and 3mm hole punches OR 1mm and 2mm hole punches if you will use 2mm cord.
> The Mood Bag Charm assembly instructions are at the end of the Frigate Bags assembly instructions.
