While this leather does not fall under our free splitting category, splitting is still available upon request. You can reach out to our customer support team for custom splitting pricing if nothing is listed in the listing.

Please note that splitting is a delicate process, and while we strive for precision, there is an inherent risk involved. As such, this service is performed at your own risk, and we are unable to offer refunds or replacements for any issues that may arise during the splitting process.

Splitting Details:

Tolerance:

  • Panels: +/- 0.1mm
  • Full & Half Hides: +/- 0.15mm
  • No Splitting (From Tannery): +/- 0.2mm
    Leather thickness is subject to these tolerances due to natural variations in density across the hide.

Splitting Process:

  • Our splitter accommodates widths up to 30 inches. Hides larger than this will be trimmed, with the belly section removed to retain the best part of the hide. Trimmed pieces will be returned with your order.
  • Split flesh layers are not included in the final shipment.

Precision Measurement:

  • Thickness is measured using a gauge with moderate pressure, ensuring consistency across the hide. Variations within the noted tolerances are expected and considered standard.

      OVERVIEW

      Super Soft Vachetta is a unique veg tan article that has incredible softness, beautiful pebble grain and comes in a very attractive price. The colors of Super Soft are especially unique with their bright inviting colors traditionally more difficult in vegetable tannages 

      This article is cut as sides and comes in the tanneries top 1/2 grades. There can be holes and other defect, but overall has a nice cutting yield. The softness of this leather makes 

      The veg tan will have an amazing patina as it ages. The leather is dyed completely through and has a nice soft nap flesh side. This leather has a great feel in the hand and it is easy to cut and skive.  We are confident this will be one of your favorite leathers and will give your projects a unique and premium look

        With a natural product like leather, there can be areas with neck and back wrinkles, veins, scars, bites, loose grain, but in general this article can expect an overall high cutting area. Whole hides and sides do include bellies where there can be some loose grain. This leather being full aniline (meaning the leather is very natural with no extra finishing on the surface to hide any flaws) darker colors will better hide any areas of concern. A key skill of using full aniline leather is the ability to work less desirable areas of the hide into the less visible areas of your projects. Overall this leather has a moderately high cutting yield.
