You simply place the snap in the closest sizing base, place the tool in the center of the cap or base and give it a whack! The snap peen is now opened and the two parts are free to be removed. When removing the bottom snap you want to approach it from the opposite side you peened the snap. This will allow that rolled metal to return to its straight and open position. We have tested this on all sizes of snaps and it has been a lifesaver!
