Established in 1849, Weinheimer Leder is a pioneer and one of the oldest tanners of calfskin. Weinheimer leather articles are used by the top luxury brands on some of the highest end handbags. They are masters of the most difficult leathers to produce!
Odessa (Togo) is arguably the top calf leather amongst the luxury brands. Togo is notoriously difficult to produce and achieve its deep naturally shrunken grain (No embossing).
The hides come from calf in the alp regions of Europe where there are less bugs and are hand selected for the highest quality. These hides are sourced specifically for their density, ensuring a distinct deep grain in the shrinking process. One hide can lose up to 40% of its size in the shrunken tanning process. The final result is one of the highest end luxury leather articles available. A deep grain that can not be imitated. Running down the center of the back, Odessa will highlight its signature perpendicular veining. This veining will usually be centered on the highest end luxury handbags.
This leather is full grain and top grade. It is a nice balance of medium and firm temper, providing structure, yet is slightly softer than Negonda. This particular leather is popular for highest end bags, clutches and larger items. Another unique trait of this leather is its durability and scratch resistance making it a great choice for products needing unmatched durability for everyday wear and tear. It is a versatile leather that will give a great dimension and a luxury feel to your products!

65%+ Best for those that like the rustic flaws and characteristics of hides. With a natural product like leather, there can be areas with neck and back wrinkles, spidering, veins, scars, bites, loose grain. This article especially rustic and for those who appreciate the uniqueness of horsehide. Horses are much more active than cows and their hides are more representative of flaws. These flaws make each hide unique. We recommend this article for those that appreciate the rich dense grain that is full of character. If you require large pieces, we recommend whenever possible ordering a full hide. This leather can have holes in the center of the skin and are best for small to medium sized leather goods. This leather being full aniline (meaning the leather is very natural with no extra finishing on the surface to hide any flaws) darker colors will better hide any areas of concern. A key skill of using full aniline leather is the ability to work less desirable areas of the hide into the less visible areas of your projects. |
